Jane P. said… Carol, You are so welcome and I know you too will overcome this new dilemma thrown your way. You ARE a strong person and as days pass you will see just how strong you really are!
3 months after my husband passed we had a hurricane touch down in our area. The electricity shut off and the sump pump stopped working. My first reaction was to cry and get angry! But I had to get a grip on things and I put myself into action. Not having an exit to the outside I opened a window made a shoot to carry the water away from the house, climbed a ladder with bucketful of water and for 4 hours I bailed that hole out trying to prevent it from going over and destroying all of my husband's woodworking equipment. But I did it. I prayed as if there was never going to be a tomorrow and when I look back on this I could hear Dan say I knew you could do it and I am so proud of you.
So Carol I too know you can do this and I do believe there is something to gain from this most recent life altering situation. Sending many hugs and prayers Jane P.
Jane P. said… Oh Carol I am so sorry for the new hurdle you once again have to jump over. But this hurdle seems so much higher when you are doing it alone. I can understand how this flood can bring your grieving back to square one. I wish I can offer more than to say stay strong but I will add you to my prayers asking for strength to get you through this. And who knows the flood maybe an asset as now the insurance will pay for or assist in the remodeling and your condo will sell faster for more money! The silver lining in the dark cloud! BIG HUGS, Jane P.
didi said… Hi Carol. Thank-you for asking.
My dad has started on hormonal therapy and is doing OK, at the back of all our minds is the fact that my husband passes away with the same problem.
We hope the future will be kind to us. Hope you are doing well too.
All the best for you and your family in 2013, big hugs didi.
didi said… Carol, thank-you for asking. I am getting by, my group at work is great and they keep me focussed on other things. My dad is still undergoing some clinical exams in London but should start receiving treatment mid December.
Meanwhile (about 10 days ago) my father in law went into hospital urgently to have an operation - appendicitis - at his age seems hard to believe. He was already suffering with secondary infections. We will see how that goes. Problems certainly come tumbling down.
How are you doing, great to have children around, they keep us busy and occupied.
Big hugs.
Hey
Glad to hear from you. They are putting a Target in Toronto around here.
I did start going to church after my girlfriend on Fla researched it.
Didn't want to do the catholic one and she is Baptist. I go to Orchard Community Church in Greece. Very upbeat(you can look it up on line. He tapes his talks on sun and puts them on the website)
They play guitars and it is nothing like i have been to before. I go to a Bible class before church(one thing i knew nothing about. went to catholic school and church and they didn't do much with that.) It is all very interesting.
Do you do Facebook at all? Have some pics on there. Haven't figured out how to do that here.
Hope you have a good holiday.
Talk to you later

didi said… Carol, thank-you for your words. My dad will also be undergoing hormonal therapy and then radiotherapy. Presently he is in London. He will start treatment there and then hopefully transfer to Portugal. Ten years would not be ba - if without too much suffering, of course we always want more.
Jane P. said… Carol, Thank you for your kind words you always know what to say to help me put things in perspective!
About the mediums, the book I read 'The Medium Next Door' by Maureen Hancock, she is a catholic and she did a chapter on this. She mentioned she is not giving advice or trying to change people she is just the messenger and it is accepted by the church. Maybe that is where the saying don't kill the messenger came from! Smile! I hope you have a good reading!
And the words your sister spoke to you about Abby being innocent well this too was addressed in this book. Yes, children are not bothered with everyday life and are so sweet and innocent their minds see things we are unable. She just maybe enjoying visits from her grandfather!
Hugs, Jane P
